The colour of money

The new theme at gingersnap is "the colour of money" where you are supposed to make your piece inspired by the colour of the money where you live or where you are from.

I took the challenge literally and decided to use actual money in my creation. I actually really like the colour of the twenty pound note so have used that as part of my creation as well as to inspire the box.

I often give cash as a gift, but it can look a bit dull and as though not much thought has gone into it, so I thought if you could make it into a gift it would be pretty cool.

First I made an origami butterfly. then I made a box with an acetate lid. Interestingly, I decided to only decorate the inside of the box (before folding) . I used all stampotique stamps to do this.

All you need is TWO STICKS....

Two sticks:  #6006!  Jane here...Love love love this sweet image called "two sticks".  Can you tell?  he he he!
I decided to use the Unscipted Sketches challenge no.  112  for my card and the BG "out of print " dp.  I embossed a vanilla tag with my cb and did a little crazy sewing on the bottom in place of a swirl on the bottom panel.  Sentiment is computer generated.  What could be better??  Did I tell you that I LOVE this image??  :)   All you need is "TWO STICKS".... TFL!

Friendship Quilt

Hi, Lisa here today sharing my "scraps" card for the current challenge! The Quilt is created with MME papers and some coordinating Stampin' Up! card stock, I placed a Sheet of Scor-Tape on my grid sheet when forming the quilt, it was much easier than applying adhesive to each piece. I distressed the edges and embossed the quilt with the Damask Texture Fades Folder.

I stamped Olive Rose in Carmel on Vanilla card stock, then added this sentiment in Chocolate ink, and cut with Spellbinders Petite Oval, layering on Labels Twenty.  I created some rolled flowers by punching 1-3/8" circles from pattern paper, then cutting the circle to form a spiral and rolled with a Petal Roller and glued in place - this all from scraps!

Details:
Stamps - Stampotique
Ink - Chocolate
Card Stock - Sky, Tangerine, Chocolate, Kraft
Other - Spellbinders Dies, Pin, Petal Roller, 1-3/8" Circle Punch, Scor-Tape, Big Shot, Texture Fades Folder, Sponge Dauber, Glue Dots, Dimensionals, My Minds Eye Pattern Paper, Seam Binding, Distress Tool

Madness

I couldn't resist making another mini canvas when I saw this phrase on the internet and I knew just the characters who fit it. With those grins I think we can safely say they aren't sane!!

I've coloured them with Copics and gave them some googly eyes just to finish them off! I'm sure I'm not the first person to do this, but it just felt right!!

I have used:
~{6108 Karin}~
~{6078 Smile}~, and
~{9112 En Dago en Maschera}~

A simple card

A simple card today that I made with these gorgeous Stampotique stamps: Pickin' and Go confidently.

I made 2 backgrounds with distressinks. I stamped the imagestamp on one of them and punched out the hearts. Then I stamped again on the other background and cut out the women and children. I added them to the card with 3d-tape (see detail picture) and finished stamping the quotestamp.

Quick and easy ..
Have fun stamping

Stampotique Journaling

Alphabitties by Daniel Torrente and Jill Penney
Medium bee by Jo Capper Sandon
Mary by Daniel Torrente

I always enjoy using Stampotique images on my journal pages. Here I chose to add 'Mary' after colouring her with distress inks. As this page is about my never ending battle with work / life balance, the phrase 'busy bee' popped into my head so of course I had to give her some bee wings:

And I'm loving these 'Alphabitties', they make a fantastic addition to a journal page because they look as if they have been drawn by hand. They are all different sizes and a random collection of upper / lower case - right up my street!

Thanks for looking, Kate

Dream in color ...

The past week I got spoiled with a lot of new Stampotique stamps. This is the first card I made with them.

The background is sort of a "happy accident". I made a background with pastel crayons and gesso and wanted to give that a little boost with some alcoholink. But that gave large ugly spots. In a last attempt to rescue it I immediately splashed quit a bit of blending solution over it. The colors started to blend and my background ended up like this.

These are the Stampotique stamps I used for this card: Marci, Carol's flower large, Carol's flower small, Dream in color, Hope definition, Dream definition and French text.

Have fun stamping!

Framed!

it's one layer week at Less is more, with the theme "in the frame"
One of the way to get around the flatness of one layer cards, is to think about instead of adding stuff think about taking it away.

This Stampotique stamp
was perfect for the theme, and i decided to cut away the background to make the little guy really standout. To make him stand out further I added some colour to the inside of the card by sectioning of a piece, brayering on some colour, and then stamping a splatter stamp.

The image is coloured with pencils and I have added some grey shadow around the frame to try to lift it. The "whatever" word, just seemd so perfect to use for this little guy.

all the stamps are available from Stampotique

More calendar art!

Bold birds by Maryse Carrier

Every month I make a double page spread in my large Moleskine art journal and include a small square to write on every day. I love to use Stampotique images to decorate my pages and this month I chose Bold Birds by Maryse Carrier. Don't they look cute?! I also used Alphabitties by Jill Penney and Daniel Torrente to stamp the month - I just LOVE the randomness of these letters!

Here's my finished page ready to go:

More Lovebirds

I am loving using the Lovebirds stamp at the moment and made a card for a crafty friend using her favourite colours.

I swiped Distress Ink pads directly onto a sheet of white cardstock to make a masterboard & randomly stamped the cardstock with the honeycomb & heart flower stamps. I cut out a piece from the masterboard to fit my card. I then added a computer generated verse & the gorgeous Lovebirds stamp. Perfect for any wedding anniversary!

Quickie Card

You can't beat making a quick card, especially if you can make one for a male I find. For this one I have stamped ~{6028 Framed}~ and ~{9005 Happy Birthday}~ directly onto the card blank, coloured the image with Copics, then masked them before inking over using a stencil.

Escape the ordinary ... bla bla bla

A simple card made with Ranger distressinks (my favorite inks in case you didn't notice yet ...).

I stamped Linda on plain white paper with masked the image. Then I sponged the background with distressink Worn Lipstick, Peeled Paint and Broken China. I sprayed some water in my hands and splashed it on my card to get the stains. I stamped Bla bla bla with the black ink and removed the mask. I colored the image using the same colors of distressink. Glued it on matching paper.

I stamped Daniëls hearts on a matching pink card with the Worn Lipstick ink. I stamped it on white paper that I colored just a little with distressinks too and cut out a couple of hearts. Glued the whole together as shown. Finally I stamped the Escape the ordinary .. stamp with black ink.

Have fun stamping

Grrrumpy canvas

I've made a mini canvas using a phrase I found on the net and felt it suited Grrumpy, especially with his hat on. He needed a friend and Perl looks as if she feels this way too!

This is going to sit in my craft room to make me smile when I feel how Grrrumpy looks.

I've used:
~{6071 Perl}~,
~{5165 Grrrumpy}~  and
~{5609 Conehat}~

moda

From the Mall, is the current challenge at gingersnap creations.
"mall"- not a word we Brits use, but I think I know what it means, I watch enough American telly. Anyway, I took this challenge to mean anything from a shopping trip. So I used this label from some clothes, and used it to make a card.

I've used girl with the heart purse, from stampotique. She was my first ever stampotique stamp. I used her to enter a stampotique challenge and wons some more stamps, that's how it started, and now I'm on their DT, talking of which this card would actually qualify for the current acetate challenge, but I can't enter that as I'm on the DT.

I attached the tag to the card with an eyelet.
