Black & White with a Pop of Color - Wednesday's with Claudine

Happy Wednesday everyone

Wednesday's always mark new challenge over at Stampotique Designer's Challege Blog and this week our sweet and wonderful Kay Wallace has chosen our theme.

The new theme is Black and White with a Pop of Color and I love this theme. Black and white is sometimes hard to do but it sure is fun.

For this theme I wanted to do a Zentangle, I love zentangle but I have only occasionally tried to do them. I have always been a doodler, even back in school. We had to wrap our books in brown paper bags to cover them and I would always draw on my covers. Brown paper! Who likes that? haha!

I used Stampotique Stamp

Night - By Artist Magda Polakow

I love this stamp, it's so cool, Magda really captures the "soul" of the characters

I included one of my favorite Bible verses on this two page journal spread

I hope you like my Zentangle journal page, Have a wonderful day!

art journaling with Stampotique

I love these little quails of Janet Klein's and use them quite a bit in my journals.

It's the busiest time of year for me at the minute, but that'll finish today when school finishes for the Summer.  So I'm sharing a journal page I made a while ago using my Stampotique stamps - I've loved this company's images for a long, long time.

I rarely write in my journals but I do enjoy using snippets from book; old books often have the most fantastic phrases.

Christmas In July - Wednesday's With Claudine

Hello all and welcome to another Wednesday

Wednesday marks another new challenge over at the Stampotique Designer's Challenge Blog
Our wonderful Gez Butterworth is our hostess this time and she has challenged us to do something in the theme "Christmas in July"

It seems a bit early to do something in a Christmas theme but it is a nice break from all the summer challenges and I think it's a great time to think about the coolness of winter, specially when it's been so hot outside

I decided to make a postcard for this challenge but I went with a little switch up and made a round one instead of a rectangle.

For my creation today I used Stampotique Stamps

Global Warming - By Artists Jill Penney and Daniel Torrente
Barcode Text - By Artist France Papillon

Here is my finished postcard:

Make sure to come by the Designer's Challenge Blog and participate, we always love to see your creations for the challenges and as always you might win a 30.00 gift card to Stampotique Originals online store.

Have a wonderful day!!

Tuesday with Val and Comforting Card

Happy Tuesday everyone!
Today I have a quick little card inspired by last week's Mojo Monday sketch.
It features the adorable kids on the Summer Days stamp.
This image is like comfort food to me.
It just reminds me of those simple summer days
when we were little running through the sprinkler
without a care in the world.
Sitting out on the patio this weekend,
I could hear the squeals of the neighbour's kids as they did exactly that,
and it brought a smile to my heart.
I hope you're enjoying your summer too!
Val :)

quasimoto love

I love this little quasimoto, he just looks like he's looking directly at you and saying "What?" or "What are you looking at?"

I stood him on star flower, added a little funky striped leaf and the exclamation mark from cockatoo screech.

Collage Box

If you saw my post last week you know I'm a little (just a little) obsessed with type.  When I began as a graphic design major in Paleolithic times, typography hit my heart.

As an art specialist most all my projects for children had text embedded somewhere in mixed media pieces and or repurposed art.  So it's no surprise that what I have for you today is inspired by my love for text and scraps.

My collage definition stamp  is not a recent release but it certainly is a great stamp to have.  It inspired me to make this tag.  Perhaps to hang from a kraft paper sack filled with paper goodies for an artsy friend.  But  no, I couldn't stop there.

I had to have it hang from this glass drawer pull which HAD to be attached to a collaged box.

Anyone follow my thought process?

Follow me to Vera Lane Studio for more on this project.

Coby's Saturday.

Hello sweet Stampotique-lovers. This week I made
a couple of Art Journals. I noticed how great and simple
it is when I used the stamps of Stampotique, they
really are made for Art Journaling! This is one of them.

The first thing I did was finding a quote, after
stamps, paper, paint and ink:

Using Newspaper or Magazine - Wednesday with Claudine

Hello all, it's that time again, time for another challenge over at
Stampotique Designers Challenge. This week our wonderfully talented Magda Polakow is our hostess and she has chosen the theme "Use a piece of magazine or newspaper"

You would think this would be an easy challenge
but for me, I don't use newspaper or magazines
very much. I mostly use stamps in my backgrounds
so this was tough for me.

Needless to say I scoured over my newspaper from the passed few days looking for a good piece.
I found something in the Michael's add of all places haha!
SO I decided to make a postcard for my piece and I went with the following Stampotique Stamps:

Hazel Jester - By artist Linda Peterson

Clothes Text - Also by artist Linda Peterson

I used a piece of printed card stock for my background and added the "flowery" piece of newspaper that I tore out of my Michael's add

This is what it looked like from the start

I then added some painting and washi tape
I heat embossed my text and Hazel and colored them with colored pencils (I made my Hazel a bumblebee to show her in a costume)
Lastly - I added a flower with a button center

Here is my finished postcard

Because Bees like flowers I just love my magazine piece in the background there.

I hope you have enjoyed my project for today and hopefully all the bees are buzzing around in your neck of the woods because that means it's warm and there are lots of flowers out.

Tuesday with Val and a Magnetic Bookmark

Happy Tuesday!
Today I'd like to share a simple little project.
It's a magnetic bookmark made from Roc's regal Bird Princess
using paper piecing and Copic coloring techniques!
This stamp is the perfect shape for a bookmark, so I just
made a skinny card and folded it over the top of the page and
affixed magnets inside the front flap and back flap
so they would squeeze the page to mark my place!
Great bookmarks make reading even more fun!

Coby's Saturday

So glad I can post by myself today! Last Saturday
Claudine Criner made a great blog post for me because
our grandson was in hospital. Thanks again Claudine
it was so sweet and a great job!

Today it's the first Saturday of July so a new
calender page again. When I worked with the
gelliplate I put white paint on the plate and a piece of
paper. Let it dry and pull it off, your plate is clean
and you have another great background:-)

Bird bike ride

Stampotique's bicycle and a clip from bike ride text are featured in this silly little ATC.
I found this tiny bird illustration and I just had to plop him on the bike seat.
The card was cut from over spray using stencils and Dylusions sprays.
